Description
INJECTABLE SOLUTION
Composition:
Each ml solution contains :
100 mg iron (Fe+++) as iron-III-hydroxide dextran-complex.
Spectrum of activity:
This preparation produces a rapid increase of the haemoglobin and packed cell volume in iron deficiency anemias. Piglets are born with minimum of iron reserves. After a few days red blood cell
production begins to be deficient on account of the overwhelming growth of the young animals.
Therefore it is of the greatest interest to supply this depletion of iron
to permit a normal development.
It has been proven that a dose of 4 ml given within 3 days of birth covers all conditions to maintain and support the normal growth without loss of weight or health. Ferro 100 must be injected as a prophylactic supply to prevent the ferri-prive anemia and its consequences (loss of appetite, diarrhoea, retarded growth, diminished resistance against both infectious agents and changing atmospheric conditions).
Indications:
Prevention and treatment of the ferri-prive anemia in piglets, calves, sheep, goats and dogs.
Contra-indications:
Vitamin E-deficiency and/or selenium deficiency in piglets because of increased chance of toxicity
Diarrhoea in piglets.
Side-effects:
Injection of very high doses may cause: siderosis, intoxication with hypotonia, shock and death. Sometimes anaphylactic reactions may occur.
Dosage and administration:
For deep intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. Usually one injection is sufficient.
