Each ml solution contains:
40 mg trimethoprim.
200 mg sulfamethoxazole.
Spectrum of activity:
The combination of trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole acts synergistic and in many cases bactericidal against a large number of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, e.g. some staphylococci, streptococci, E. coli, Actinomyces spp., Actinobacillus pleuropneumonia, Klebsiella spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella spp., Proteus mirabilis, Pasteurella spp., Enterobacter aerogenes, Haemophilus influenza and Corynebacterium spp..
Infections caused by micro-organisms susceptible to trimethoprim and/or sulfamethoxazole (like respiratory-, alimentary- and urogenital tract infections, secondary bacterial infections (after viral infections), foot rot, mastitis, arthritis and phlegmones), in horses, cattle, pigs, dogs and cats.
Serious liver- or kidney insufficiencies, aciduria, hypersensitivity to sulphonamides.
The combination is incompatible with para-aminobenzoic acid and esters of it (procaine, tetracaine). Don’t administer simultaneously with hexamethylene tetramine (methenamine).
Occasionally, temporary swellings at injection sites may occur (for this reason subcutaneous injections should be avoided).
Folic acid deficiency, crystalluria and/or blood dyscrasias may occur, especially if treatment is prolonged.
Hypersensitivity and cross-hypersensitivity reactions to sulphonamides.
Dosage and administration:
For intramuscular or slow intravenous (horses, foals) injection.
The general dose is: 1 ml per 10-15 kgbodyweight, once daily, during 5 days (if necessary).
For meat: 8 days.
For milk: 4 days.
Store between 15 °C and 25 °C and protected from light.
100 ml multidose vial.
