Description
INJECTABLE SOLUTION
Composition;
Each ml solution contains:
100 mg spectinomycin base.
50 mg lincomycin base
Inactive ingredients
Benzyl alcohol, sodium metabisulfite, trisodium citrate, citric acid, water for injections
Spectrum of activity:
Lincomycin acts bacteriostatic against mainly Grampositive bacteria (e.g. Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Str. suis, Str. agalactia, Diplococcus pneumonia, Corynebacterium pyogenes), against anaerobic bacteria (Clostridium perfringens, Cl. tetani, Bacteroides spp., Fusobacterium spp.), Treponema hyodysenteriae, and Mycoplasma spp. (e.g. M. gallisepticum, M. hyosynoviae, M. meleagridis, M. canis and M. hyorhinis). It is inactive against enterococci and other Gramnegative bacteria.
Spectinomycin is a bacteriostatic or bactericidal (depending on the dosage) acting broad-spectrum antibiotic against Gramnegative bacteria, Grampositive bacteria and mycoplasmas (e.g. Enterobacter aerogenes, E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Vibrio spp., Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella spp., Campylobacter spp., Pasteurella spp., Mycoplasma gallisepticum, M. meleagridis and M. synoviae). Cross-resistance of lincomycin with macrolides is common, and spectinomycin may show cross-resistance with aminoglycosides.
Indications:
Infections caused by micro-organisms, susceptible to lincomycin and/or spectinomycin, e.g. Chronic Respiratory Disease (CRD), respiratory infections, air-sac disease, infections of skin- and adjoining tissues, enteritis, erysipelas, dysentery, foot rot, infectious arthritis in pigs, poultry (broilers), calves, sheep and goats.
Contra-indications:
Hypersensitivity to lincomycin or spectinomycin, serious renal dysfunctions, administration to ruminants, laying hens, rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas.
Side-effects:
Hypersensitivity reactions, temporary local irritation on the injection site.
