Each ml suspension contains:
250 mg dihydrostreptomycin sulphate
200,000 I.U. procaine penicillin G.
Spectrum of activity:
Procaine penicillin G is a small spectrum penicillin with bactericidal action against mainly Gram-positive bacteria, (like Streptococci, Staphylococci, some Corynebacteria spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Clostridia spp., Bacillus anthracis) and Gram-negative cocci, Leptospira canicola, Campylobacter fetus and Actinomyces bovis.
Dihydrostreptomycin, an amino glycoside antibiotic, has bactericidal activity against mainly Gram-negative bacteria, like E. coli, Proteus vulgaris, Brucella spp., Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Klebsiella spp., Pasteurella spp. and some Mycoplasmas.
The combination acts additive and in some cases synergistic.
Infections, caused by micro-organisms susceptible to penicillin or dihydrostreptomycin, like respiratory-, uterine-, and alimentary tract infections, metritis, mastitis, osteomyelitis, peritonitis, septicaemia, cystitis, joint-ill and secondary bacterial infections, in horses, cattle, pigs, foals, calves, sheep and goats.
Hypersensitivity to penicillins, amino glycosides and/or procaine, renal dysfunctions, disturbances of auditory or vestibular organ, use in small herbivores like rabbits, chinchillas and guinea pigs, prolonged use in pregnant animals because of the risk of ototoxicity to the foetus.
Prolonged administration of high doses may result in renal, vestibular and/or auditory dysfunctions and sometimes hypersensitivity reactions may occur.
Dosage and administration:
Intramuscular administration (not more than 5 ml per injection site):
The general dose is: 1 ml per 25 kgbodyweight daily, during 3-4 days.
In severe cases this dose may be doubled.
Shake well before use.
For meat: 9 days.
For milk: 4 days.
Store between 8 °C and 15 °C and protected from light.
50 ml and 100 ml multidose vial.
